Speech & language fact 1:
One in ten children has a communication disability in the UK
Children with a communication disability may have problems with one or more areas of communication, such as expression or understanding of spoken language, production or recognition of speech sounds, or with understanding or using language in a social context.
Speech & language fact 3:
Communication is the channel through which all other learning happens. Difficulties with speech & language will affect a child’s ability to learn and to socialise and make new friends.
There is an increase in the number of children, in the classroom, who find it hard to stay focused on a task and listen to instructions. Poor listening affects learning and behaviour.
